Answering the Call
Long before Vincent Williams walked into the union hall, he wore the uniform of the United States Army. From 1986 to 1992, he served his country with honor as a Dragon Gunner — a demanding, high-stakes role that required precision, discipline, and nerves of steel under pressure.
By the time he separated from the military, Vincent had risen to the rank of Specialist and earned the Expert Infantryman Badge — one of the most rigorous and respected distinctions in the U.S. Army, awarded only to soldiers who demonstrate mastery across a demanding set of infantry skills. You don't earn the EIB by accident. You earn it by outworking everyone around you.
Six years in the Army instilled in him values that no classroom can teach: the discipline to do the hard work when no one is watching, the courage to stand firm under pressure, and the loyalty to never abandon those who depend on you.
When Vincent came home in 1992, he did not stop serving. He brought every lesson the Army taught him into TWU Local 252 — and those same lessons are exactly what this union needs in its next President.
“The same values that carried me through my military service are the values I bring to this union every day — duty, honor, and an unbreakable commitment to the people beside me.”
— Vincent Williams

How the Military Made Him a Better Union Leader
The same methodical planning used to execute military missions is applied to crafting and negotiating contracts that protect members.
Leading soldiers under pressure translates directly into advocating for workers when management pushes back.
Military experience taught Vincent how to work within institutional structures — and how to push back when those structures fail people.
When negotiations get tough, Vincent doesn't fold. He draws on the mental toughness forged through military service.
